Dundee University History Society
Heading towards the close of Semester 2 in the 2011/2012 session, we've got plenty of exciting events for you guys before you head off for summer. On 20 March we're heading to Duke's Corner for yet another of our legendary pub quizzes, on 22 March we're heading to St Andrews for a historical and spooky adventure, and on 29th March we have our AGM and end-of semester 'Time Capsule' party in Drouthys Basement. You can find plenty of info about these in the 'Upcoming Events' section! Hope to see you there :) These events are not to be missed so please do come along if you can. Welcome to the website for Dundee University History Society, the space where you can find out about all our upcoming and past events, view pictures of the Society and learn what we're all about. Since being revived in Summer 2010, the History Society has been very proactive at Dundee University, holding events such as: a meet-and-greet social event, a pub quiz, two walking tours with Professor Charles McKean (Dundee & St Andrews), an Essay-Writing Salon, a guest lecture and a themed Christmas party! The second semester has shown no sign of relenting, as already we have had a movie night, pub quiz, walking tour, guest lecture and a day trip to Stirling. Still planned this semester are one walking tour to Broughty Ferry, an end-of-semester party and Historical Question Time! Our first two batches for orders of newly-designed, gorgeous hoodies ran very smoothly and those who purchased were very happy with them, so we'll make sure they will be available again next year.
There is no joining fee for the History Society, and although we don't have weekly meetings for general members (yet) this is something we are currently considering and would love to hear your views on. The Committee meets weekly on Monday afternoons so if you have anything you'd like us to discuss then please send us an email and we'll be pleased to include it in our meetings.
Unfortunately, the Battlefield Trip has had to be cancelled last year, due to the weather disrupting organisation attempts last semester. We're really sorry for those of you who wanted to come along, but we assure you that arrangements for this trip or something similar for next year are being looked into.

History Society wins DUSA's 'Most Progressive Society' Award!
We were absolutely delighted to be nominated for and then go on to win
the prestigious DUSA award for 'Most Progressive Society'. The History
Society was in a bit of a bad way this time last year but all the work from
the Committee and the support from students and staff really paid off
and all our efforts were recognised. Here are a few members of our Society
with the award (right) before we headed to the pub to celebrate!
Here's to an even more successful year in 2011-12!!
